Summer Camp

SCROLL DOWN

Summer Camp

We understand that Cap Ferrat is a long way from home, and for that reason, we're hoping that we can provide the opportunity for you to make a nice trip out of your time spent in the Côte d'Azur.

To that end, we've put together an itinerary of activities for a few days beforehand, so that you can arrive, adjust, and enjoy the area in advance of the wedding. The more folks come and participate, the more we can get to know each other and make friends before the big day.

Summer camp activities are entirely optional, and while we will take care of organizing, costs to participate will be covered by attendees. If you have questions about Summer Camp, contact a member of the wedding party, or email LetsGetRollen@gmail.com. Please note that you'll need to confirm your attendance for ticketed activities several weeks in advance.

Wednesday

Arriving after a long flight, you'll likely be very tired. Take the morning to relax and refresh. In the afternoon, head to the beach to relax some more! In Nice, beaches are composed of large pebbles called galets. Although the galets rule out long walks on the beach, there's always the Promenade des Anglais, the beachside promenade that runs 5km along the sea. We will be lounging at Castel Plage, soaking up the sun! At Castel Plage, sunbeds are 19€ for the day, 16€ for a half-day (2-7 pm), an umbrella is 5€, and to rent a towel is 5€.

In the evening, we'll get together for dinner somewhere casual. We aren't making a group reservation and will just walk somewhere local.

Thursday

MEETING POINT: 9:00am at La Civette Salon, Avenue Claude Vignon, 06230 Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

In the morning, walk the coastal path surrounding Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Starting in Villefranche-sur-Mer, this walk is around 6 km (3.5 mi) and takes about 1.5 hours with no stops. We will start early to beat the heat, but be sure to bring a water bottle, a small snack, and a camera for the amazing views!

MEETING POINT: 11:30am at the Villa Ephrussi, 1 Avenue Ephrussi de Rothschild, 06230 Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

For the afternoon, will walk right up to the incredible Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, a location famous throughout the region, where we will can have lunch and tour the Villa. Socialite Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild designed this vacation home and gardens based on architecture she saw during her travels around the world. Its nine themed gardens—outlayed in the form of a ship—were tended to by gardeners dressed as sailors. The mansion itself is a sight to see as well.

This event includes access to the gardens, as well as a lunch in the Villa, depending on which tickets you have reserved.

MEETING POINT: 7:00pm at Le Mayssa Beach, 9 Place Wilson, 06230 Villefranche-sur-Mer

In the evening, we plan on renting out a portion of Mayssa, a rooftop restaurant in Villefranche with panoramic views of the bay. A delectable, freshly caught two-course dinner, wine, coffee/tea, etc. in a beautiful location. Tickets for this event have sold out.

Friday

MEETING POINT (breakfast): 9:00am Creperie La Cactus, La Placette, 06360 Èze
MEETING POINT (gardens): 9:00am Creperie La Cactus, La Placette, 06360 Èze

In the morning, we'll visit the medieval seaside village of Èze. Meet us at 9am at the Creperie La Cactus for some breakfast or at 10am to grab a coffee and go! We can explore Èze's narrow and well-preserved streets climbing the steep cliff to ruins of a 12th-century castle. Meander in the Jardin Exotique d’Èze, a botanical garden known for its varieties of succulents and breathtaking views (entry 6€ if you didn't already get a bundled ticket with the Villa Ephrussi, Thursday's activity). Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for this visit, as Èze has cobblestone streets. Those interested can also check out the Parfumerie Fragonard, a perfume factory located in Èze, which offers factory tours.

Use this afternoon to revisit your favorite spots so far! You can stay the afternoon in charming Èze, explore Old Town Nice and sample some local food, return to a beach, or head to nearby Monte Carlo to see their famous casino, walk the streets of the Monaco Grand Prix, and browse some opulent shopping. Perhaps it's another opportunity to return to the Promenade des Anglais.

Other Places to Visit

Villefranche

The Bay of Villefranche, reputed as one of the five most beautiful bays in the world, is embraced by the Cap of Nice to the west and Cap Ferrat on the east. The charming Old Town of Villefranche cascades down the hillside to the sea, and the sandy kilometre-long beach offers great sunbathing and swimming.

Monaco

Monaco is an independent microstate on France’s Mediterranean coastline known for its glitzy casinos, yacht-lined harbour and prestigious Grand Prix motor race, which runs through Monaco’s streets once a year in May. Monte Carlo, its major district, has an elegant Belle Époque casino complex, ornate opera house and luxury hotels, boutiques, nightclubs and French and Italian restaurants.

Saint-Paul de Vence

A beautiful historic hillside village known for its art, spices, and fort. Saint-Paul de Vence is artist Marc Chagall’s resting place. The views are spectacular both from the village and also the approach up to it.

Antibes

A cute fortress town with a relaxed atmosphere. Walk around the old town and along the waterfront by the Billionaire’s row in the harbour. The Picasso museum is also well worth a visit.

Grasse

An abundance of water in the rolling hills has made Grasse the perfume capital of the world. Grasse is still surrounded by fields of jasmine, Centifolia roses, mimosa, orange blossom and violet fields with some 30 perfumeries in Grasse alone. You can tour the Musée International de la Parfumerie or Musée Fragonard.
